PointGuard AI was originally founded as AppSOC in 2022 with a mission to help organizations secure their software supply chains and modern application stacks. The company’s early work focused on Application Security Posture Management (ASPM)—enabling security teams to gain visibility into vulnerabilities across code, dependencies, and CI/CD pipelines, while automating governance and remediation.
By 2023, AppSOC had deployed its platform across a growing customer base, demonstrating the need for continuous, risk-based application security at scale. Recognizing the rapid convergence of software development and AI integration, the team expanded its focus in 2024 to include AI Security and Governance. This included new capabilities in AI asset discovery, model risk assessment, red teaming, and runtime protection—allowing customers to manage AI and software risks through a unified platform.
To reflect its broader mission and leadership in this emerging category, the company rebranded as PointGuard AI in May 2025. The name captures the platform’s role in proactively defending critical systems at the intersection of software and AI.
Today, PointGuard AI remains unique in the industry as the only solution to combine ASPM and AI Security in a single platform—securing everything from source code and models to AI agents and APIs.
