Agentic Browser

Traditional browsers isolate websites from each other. An agentic browser adds an assistant that reads across sites and acts with the user's authority, which changes the security model.

Agentic browser risks include:

  • Indirect prompt injection: Malicious pages instructing the agent to act.
  • Session abuse: Agents acting in email, banking, or SaaS accounts.
  • Extension hijacking: Other extensions taking control of the agent, as in BragJack.
  • Data leakage: Agents copying information across sites.
  • Unintended purchases or changes: Form submissions the user did not request.

Research on Perplexity Comet and the 2026 BragJack disclosures showed that both web content and browser extensions can steer agentic browsers into harmful actions.

Organizations should inventory agentic browsers, restrict agent use on sensitive sites, require confirmation for high-risk actions, and monitor agent activity.
